Frequently Asked Questions
- How does the Vibra Fit work?
Originally invented for the Russian Space Programme, vibration training was designed to help astronauts stay fit in space where it was unsafe to use weights.
When using the Vibra Fit, almost all of the target muscles are used; whereas, when you do weights or resistance training, you are only using up to 60 per cent of your target muscle are used. This is achieved by creating an almost constant state of reflex in the muscles, known as a tonic stretch or reflex. The means that the muscles are flexing and contracting at a very high frequency producing faster increases in muscular strength.
- How do I know which settings I should be using?
Your body tends to start burning fat at around 65% of your maximum recommended heart rate. Your heart rate is the key to successful training. You should work out your suggested heart rate which can be calculated easily:
The key figure for heart rate is 220. Subtract your age from this figure and you will know what your maximum heart rate aim is for the duration of your workout. I.e. if you are 25 years of age, your maximum heart rate should not exceed 195 BPM (beats per minute) during your exercise session.
If you do not exercise regularly, you should aim for around 65 per cent of this figure and gradually increase the duration and intensity of your work outs. Exercising daily helps decrease your heart rate and hence makes it possible to increase the intensity of the vibrations.
- How often should I use my Vibra Fit?
The key is to use your Vibra Fit every day for no more than three times a day, for 10 minutes. Again you should always follow guidelines above to ensure you are maintaining a healthy heart rate.
As your fitness level increases (with regular use), you can increase the intensity of the vibrations. It is better to increase the vibration intensity than increasing the duration of the workout.
As always, consult your doctor before using the Vibra Fit and changing your workout routine.
